Semester 1 2009 - Mold making

Mold making was an interesting subject. We made various types of plaster molds and latex molds.

Our first project was to creat a Monolith. Recreating a tiny piece of junk. A small balck plastc plug turned into a much larger bridge type structure in cenent by using a waste mold.
The second project was to create a 2 part plaster mold from a bottle. My original bottle shape is in the back of the picture to the left. We then combined our own bottle (made in clay) with another persons mold. I made 2 the antique looking one with copper label and the purple bottle.
The third project was a debri field. I went for a walk in a nearby national forest with Vang and RObyn. We picked upseveral things during our walk including a work shoe, a thong, a chip container, a small toy ute, a chewed up tennis ball and a wasch hanging from a tree. I made latex molds from all these things and made lots of plaster casts and then dispalyed them in a foot shape to signify how we leave our footprints in nature.
